Nutrition For Your Soul

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Sometimes it is not food or supplements that we need but instead living and breathing our truth.   Today I share some inspiration from guest blogger Amanda Moxley.   Amanda and I are friends, colleagues and business building buddies.   We met at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I am forever blessed to have her in my life.

“Live In Your Heart, Not Your Head!”
by Amanda Moxley

Did you know that the magnetic field of your heart is 5,000 times stronger than the brain’s magnetic field?   I learned this last week at a seminar with Gregg Braden – a scientist who links spirituality with science in a fascinating way.

If you are like most of us, you are in your head WAY too much!   My coach’s challenge for you from today forward is to begin living in your heart rather than your head.

Here are some tips to get you started:

1) Do only what FEELS good.

2) Get quiet, close your eyes, relax, breathe and focus on something you are grateful for, appreciate or care about for 3 minutes, multiple times a day.

3) Break up with your ego.   Stop comparing, criticizing, blaming, feeling guilty, “shoulding” on yourself, worrying, doubting and living in fear.

4) Focus on what you are truly committed to creating.   Visualize it, sense it, allow it to come to you while taking the necessary steps to  manifest  what you are  committed  to.

5) Continuously get out of your own way, stay in service in passion to your heart’s desire.

6) Forgive and let go.

7) Breathe and be in the present moment.

We are a very exciting time in the history of the world.   You have two choices in every given moment: to choose fear (false evidence appearing real) or to choose LOVE.

What do you choose?   Let’s all live in love in our hearts!   Remember that your heart’s magnetic field is 5,000 times stronger than your brain!   The heart is the first organ to develop in a human body.   Your heart is powerful beyond measure so please USE it!   It all starts with you!

An Inspirational Time With Wayne Dyer

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Last Monday I treated my mother to one of her Christmas gifts, a visit to see Wayne Dyer and his new film, “Ambition To Meaning.”   Dr. Dyer has always been of my favorite inspirational speakers and leaders.   I remember a couple of years ago driving to visit a friend in Buffalo, NY (a long drive!) and being completely memorized by an audio of his that I had rented from the local library (the name escapes me at the moment).   The 7 hour drive seemed like a 4 hour drive, now that’s results!

Back to last Monday’s event.   The gift was a divine act – by that I mean, I did not intentionally look for this sort of gift for my mother, it just appeared!   I had thought about getting some inspirational items for her but it wasn’t until Wayne’s movie screening invitation landed in my inbox that I realized just how perfect a gift I had “stumbled upon.”

Knowing that there was limited seating and the tickets were dirt cheap, I immediately placed my online order.   At this point I had no idea who I would invite as I had not even read about the movie…all I knew was, Wayne Dyer would be there….sold!

My mother, now retired, has been busy decorating the house and keeping up with friends.   However, she has also been searching for something more.   Perfectly put, she has had ambition in her life (a top executive for a very male dominated industry) and in retirement is ready for meaning!   The movie title and description fit her like a glove.

Prior to the show, we had the most delicious dinner at a Greek restaurant called, Molyvos (around 57th and 6th, I believe).   It was a lucky draw from Zagats!   The meal was scrumptious and included traditional Greek fare.   Quite a lot of food came to our table but we were able to finish it all off without feeling weighted down.   That IS a good meal!   I loved how the prix fix included a Greek Yogurt dish.   This way I could have dessert, feel the complete satisfaction without any of the guilt.   A nutritionist’s dream!

Onward to the show.   Mom and I got walking to the next block looking for the screening location.   Being a bit confused we stopped briefly in the middle of the sidewalk….it was here that I noticed a man resembling Mr. Dyer himself passing by us with his friends.   Without saying anything to my mom, we followed this guy right into the screening….the mobs greeted his arrival and yes, it was the man himself!

Unfortunately, I was too awe stricken to say anything but it was still neat to be in such close proximity to such a spiritual being.

Wayne briefly introduced his movie and then we spent the next 1.5 hours viewing his spectacular film.   After the film, Wayne got back on stage along with producer Michael Goorjian (remember him from Party of Five?) and singer/songwriter   Ethan Lipton (he looked so familiar to me, not sure why).   Being that there were only about 150-200 people in the audience it was truly an intimate experience.   Wayne speaks right from his heart and truth pours out…..as I said to one of my facebook friends, “He’s the REAL DEAL!”

You can watch the movie online for a minimal cost at www.ambitiontomeaning.com.   I know it’s one I’ll be looking to watch again soon…happy that they gave us the video as part of the screening!   Would love to hear your thoughts.   Personally I think it’s something everybody needs to watch.   The world is changing and in order to survive we must create better thoughts.   This movie will help you understand the dynamics of the world and how to create more meaning in everyday occurrences.    I am looking forward to continuing to use Wayne Dyer’s principles in my own life & in the life of my clients.
Thank you Dr. Dyer for your gifts and being who you are.
