Eat These First! Foods That Spoil Quick.

In Europe, consumers purchase only what they need. Here in America, we tend to overdue the grocery shopping by buying a weeks worth of items hoping that it will get save us time. If you find yourself tossing out items because they haven’t lasted so long in your fridge, it’s time to rethink your store buying habits.
Logically we know that fresh produce spoils fast. Here is a list of the top items that will go bad if left in the fridge or counter top too long:
- Strawberries
- Bananas
- Mushrooms
- Greens like mustard greens and watercress
- Fresh herbs like dill and basil
- Green beans (they may still look fresh but they won’t taste it)
- Corn
So eat the perishable produce first to prevent spoilage. Or purchase these types of items on an as-needed basis since they are best when fresh.

Oh! Green beans first! That’s a helpful tip- I always wait until the end of the week to eat them. I never stopped to think I ought to eat them first. Thanks, Alison!
